I’ve noticed a HUGE change in myself within the last few weeks! Finally no more nausea and vomiting, thanks to gravel ginger tablets. My energy levels have improved drastically too. I’m moving around more, taking next to no naps and spending more time outside my house! I went shopping for some new clothes for the first time since the transplant. One day last week my Uncle Archie took me out for a ride on his motorcycle. He has a sidecar which I haven’t been in in years! We went to Niagara on the Lake and stopped in at a few wineries to sample some wine. It was such a fun day and great to talk and spend time with him!
I no longer have to visit the Hospital’s ODS every week for bloodwork. I now go to my Hematologist every 2 weeks. I got my PICC line out, feels so nice to take a normal shower without a bag wrapped around my arm!
I’m excited for the next few months as I finally have some things to look forward to. I put in an application with Wellspring Niagara, a foundation that helps cancer patients by offering programs and peer support. I really want to volunteer some of my time, since I have lots of it right now! I think volunteering is such a great thing but who really has time for that between work, school, kids etc. I am unable to go back to school/ work for quite some time so why not take advantage now that I’m feeling better.
Another thing I’m looking forward to is an overnight retreat that the Pink Pearl Foundation is hosting at the end of November. It’s an event for young women facing cancer. They have a day full of activities and guest speakers. It’s something different and somewhat out of my comfort zone, but I know I’ll regret it if I don’t go.
I can’t believe it’s already Thanksgiving. My Aunt Cathy will be having dinner this Sunday and my Aunt Barb on Monday. Needless to say I won’t go hungry this weekend.
