What a great weekend! Possibly the best weekend I’ve had this year. That sounds weird to say. Since my last post I’ve been great except for a few days last week. My parents, sister & I went to my aunts house for dinner one night. She made so much great food & I enjoyed some drinks too. It was a lot of fun. All we did was laugh & joke the entire time. I needed that.
The next morning though I woke up with a sore throat & nausea. I threw up all morning & basically slept the day away. Must have been something I ate. Thankfully that only lasted a day. Since then I don’t have much of a voice. I can only talk very quietly. This has lasted over a week. I’ve been pretty busy with my pre transplant appointments so when the weekend comes it’s nice to know I can relax & not worry about what time I have to be at the hospital. My parents, sister & I got tickets to see Little Big Town at the Fallsview Casino this past Friday. They were amazing!! We had great seats too.
Before the concert we had dinner at Canyon Creek in the Casino. We had a great table by the window with an awesome view of the Falls. Both the American side & the Canadian side. During the concert I don’t know what came over me but I started to cry out of nowhere. I tried not to let anybody see but my sister noticed because she was right beside me. “I’m just so happy” I said. Country concerts are so much fun. They make me so happy unlike anything else. I was so grateful in that moment that I felt healthy & was well enough to be out with my family, enjoying myself. Most people going through treatment don’t have that opportunity.
Saturday May 24th was the annual Rankin Cancer Run in Niagara. All of the donations stay in Niagara & are given to all the hospitals in the area. The idea is to get a team together & get as many donations as you can. My team raised $900 :) Everyone participating gets a white Tshirt with your own custom saying/team name on the back. All cancer survivors/fighters get an orange shirt. Although I’m not in the best shape to run 5k, I was still happy to be able to walk the 5k this year. Next year for sure :) I’ve done cancer runs like this before but none of them compare to The Rankin Run. Over 12,000 people participated raising $750,000! This is the first time I have gone out in public without a hat/wig (other than the hospital). That day I felt so proud to be wearing my orange shirt, sporting my new hair do :) The weather has been so nice this weekend. I ended it off by hanging out by the pool, with my SPF & a hat of course. My parents cooked & we had a nice family dinner outback :) My best friend Alyssa stopped by with a delivery. Her Mom baked me cupcakes! :) So much orange this weekend, I loved it!
